O.K., enough already. Out of control. Annoying. Invasive. Doesn't help you as consumer find what you need , just to purchase what they
want to sell. Maybe companies should need to pay a special tax on the cost of their advertising budget, which is often 40% of their
budgets, far more than R & D.
Example: Johnson & Johnson drug company show for 2015 annual report:
Used to be advertising was informative. Then it became entertainment.
Note to self: Now advertising vying to be best ad at Superbowl. Cute stories.
- Cost of products 21536
- Selling marketing & admin (SMA) 21203 (they don't show the bereakout)
- Research and development 9270
- Other -1131
- Total 50,878
How about doubling R&D and reducing SMA by $9270?
The advertisers have the money, the resources, (ie. advertising, marketing and communications Majors), but where are the Engineers?
