Income inequality

Really no discussion. Middle class has been hollowed out. Can't be allowed to continue. Compensation for top execs is laughable. No relationship to value brought to company or stock. Boards aren't doing their job. Activist investors (corporate raiders) move any profits to stock buybacks, dividends for themselves and the executives. For instance WSJ reported recently "Companies in the S&P 500 spent more than $2.5 trillion on share buybacks in the 5 years through 2016's third quarter". No value for most clients, employees. Just cutting costs, siphoning money from future and giving it immediately to execs, etc.

Where did the "bonus" come from? You do your job with performance rewarded by salary increase within salary range andor job premotion to new salary range. So why the bonus? To add insult to injury why are bonuses exclusively for the top salaried employees?

There's talk of tax cuts for corporations. So tax cuts leave corporations with more cash for them to provide extra dividends and stock buybacks to funnel even more money to the rich. It hasn't been used for investments in the past, why now?

Some pay examples:

  • Johnson Controls CEO received $46.4 million in compensation from Sept 2 to Sept 30, 2016.
  • These instances are too numerous to count
